Preparation

  • Participants: management team (highest level for the project scope involved)
  • Plan half a day for creating the level 2 detailed value added chain.
  • Bring slides to explain the business process mindset and methodology.

Execution

  1. For all business processes on level 1, a more detailed value added chain can be made. Depending on the complexity this can be multiple levels. Split the group into small groups and assign two or three business processes to be detailed in a level 2 (or more) value added chain. Remind them on the maximum number of objects.
  2. Validate and discuss the results. Review the output to make sure that the level of detail is not on activity level.
  3. Finish the workshop be determining the scope and level of detail needed at level 3 and 4. In addition, determine the necessary resources to do this.

Output

  • Detailed value added chain per main process
  • High level process structure diagram
  • Decision on granularity of the level 3 and 4 process description
